Course Description: The purpose of this WHSCC approved course is to increase participants’ awareness of the dangers of working near power lines and how to prevent injury and death. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to work safely near power lines.

Course Duration: 1/2 Day (in person)

Certification: Upon successful completion certificates will be generated by WHSCC.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the need for training
  • Recognize power line structures
  • Distinguish between conductors and insulators
  • Identify the characteristics of electricity
  • Identify how electricity travels
  • Discuss the effects of electricity
  • Identify steps in the case of an emergency
  • Use relevant sections of legislation
  • Review employers’ and workers’ rights and responsibilities
